I would like the world to go back to the days when you got ‘dressed’ even when you weren’t planning on leaving the house. When women dressed like women and you didn’t feel overdressed if you wore a lovely frock to do the grocery shopping. When dinner parties were a lovely choice of entertainment and to mix a drink at the end of the day didn’t mean a rum and coke – it was a martini, or a cocktail – something that said – today was worth making an effort. When did we all accept hum drum and daggy as normal?
Curves were beautiful, men were men and respect was freely given – it wasn’t uncommon to expect it. You called your elders Sir, Ma’am or Mr and Mrs and you never.answered.back. EVER! Being rude to anyone meant your Mother or Father would hear about it – and act on it. It was playing with your cousins and seeing your family. It was red … strawberries, watermelon, raspberry iceblocks and cordial. It was playing outdoors, basking in the sun, splashing in the rain puddles and wishing on a star.
It was just a little more friendly. Not quite as scary. Time moved slower.
